Rivers State government has given assurance that Governor Siminalayi Fubara will complete all people-oriented projects started by the previous administrations.

The secretary to the state government (SSG), Dr Tammy Danagogo, disclosed this in Port Harcourt yesterday, while briefing journalists on programmes of events for the celebration of Fubara's one year in office.

Danagogo said, “One thing I love about this government is the governor's interest in the people of the state. Governor Siminalayi Fubara is not looking for his name. I can tell you that; I am a politician and I have been around for sometime.

“Check every project started by his predecessors, every idea brought by even the regimes of Dr. Peter Odili, some started by Amaechi, some started by Wike, he is ensuring that he completes them. He doesn't care whether his name comes out or not.”

He stated that the 20-day programme of events will start on May 14, 2024 with the commissioning of Old Bori Road in Eleme local government area of the state, while the events will end on June 1, 2024 with the Port Harcourt International Marathon.

The SSG said, “We are here to brief you on the first-year anniversary of His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State. We have a very concise programme of activities just to mark the governor's first year in office.

“We have come up with a 20-day programme of events. In his characteristic style of embarking on what we have come to know calm and quiet revolution, he doesn't want us to embark on elaborate voyage of celebrations over a long period, spend so much money on fun fare. That is not what it is about.

“He wants us to do exactly what is crucial and critical to let the people know what the government is doing and the direction of the government.”
