OAP Dotun has criticized South African singer Tyla for her acceptance speech after winning the Best Afrobeats Award at MTV VMAs 2024.

Tyla won the Best Afrobeats Award at MTV VMAs 2024, becoming the first African female artist to do so.

She became the first female African artist and the first South African artist to win a VMA.

Tyla won the award with her song “Water” amidst competition from Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Davido and Lojay, Tems, and Usher with Pheelz.
