SCOTCH whisky bosses claimed the industry has been hit with a “hammer blow” after Rachel Reeves confirmed a hike on alcohol duty for non-draught products.

The Chancellor said that duty on wines and spirits will rise in line with the RPI measure of inflation from February next year.
