The Nigerian Army has extended a free medical outreach to members of Tudun Biri community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State to mark its 161st year anniversary.
Recall that on 3rd December 2023, a drone strike was carried out by the Nigerian Armed Forces on Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, targeting what they thought was a group of bandits.
The army mistakenly hit villagers who were celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad, killing at least 88 civilians.
However, speaking at the medical outreach in commemoration of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2024 (NADCEL) Thursday in Kaduna, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj-Gen. Matirenso Saraso, said the army decided to conduct the outreach in the community to further cement its civil/military relationship.
He said, “Our presence here in Tudun Biri, Igabi LGA of Kaduna State, is a testament to our unwavering commitment to the well-being of our fellow citizens. The medical outreach is part of Civil Military Relations, aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship between the civilian population and the Nigerian Army.
“Soldiers are not only trained for war purposes only but also, to offer humanitarian services such as this medical outreach. Residents will have access to a wide range of medical examinations and treatments for various health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, dental issues, heart problems, and vision impairments. Furthermore, we shall distribute complementary medications, eyeglasses and eye drops to individuals requiring such assistance.”
He commended the residents of Tudun Biri for their overwhelming support and cooperation and urged them to take advantage of the opportunity to receive free medical care.
